H.R. 232

Greenhouse Gas Registry Act of 2009

Introduced:
01.07.2009 [House]
The Legislation:

If greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase at the present rate, global warming will have a profound negative impact on middle-class Americans’ standard of living. The Greenhouse Gas Registry Act is a preliminary step in committing to action to forestall climate change. The bill establishes a national greenhouse gas registry to collect emissions data for use in emissions reporting and in emissions reduction policies. The legislation requires emitters of more than 10,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (and its equivalent for other greenhouse gases) to report their greenhouse gas emissions to the Environmental Protection Agency each year.
