The Legislation: 

The Unemployment Insurance Modernization Act offers federal funding to states that update their unemployment insurance systems by expanding coverage for low-wage workers, temporary employees, and the long-term unemployed. This bill provides much needed support for current and aspiring middle-class Americans working to get themselves back on their feet after losing a job. There is also a House version of this bill: H.R. 2233, sponsored by Rep. Jim McDermott.
